Junaluska Museum and Memorial Site is the burial site of Junaluska, a well-known Cherokee warrior who died in 1858 after surviving the Trail of Tears and the return to his homeland. The grave is surrounded by seven large granite rocks, each representing one of his seven clans and depicting the story of his life. Nearby, a museum examines the Cherokee culture and history through authentic stone tools, pottery and crafts. The site is located along the Trail of Tears, created by the forced migration of Cherokee Indians in 1838 to Oklahoma.
